Allen Park, Mich. — The Detroit Lions announced today that they have agreed to trade terms with the Cleveland Browns to acquire DL Za’Darius Smith and a 2026 seventh-round draft selection in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round selection and 2026 sixth-round draft selection. Additional trade terms were not disclosed.

In his 10th NFL season, Smith has totaled 23 tackles (15 solo), 5.0 sacks and six tackles for loss so far this year. He started all nine games for the Browns prior to joining the Lions.

A three-time Pro Bowl selection (2019, 2020, 2022) after being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round (122 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Kentucky, Smith has appeared in 117 career games (74 starts) and logged 321 tackles (213 solo), 65.0 sacks, 82 tackles for loss, 10 forced fumbles, 15 pass defenses and two fumble recoveries.
