Eastern Europe on a budget

With its quieter beaches, pristine castle-dotted countryside and idyllic islands, eastern Europe is becoming popular for more than just city breaks

The individuals who incline toward higher ground ought to make a beeline for the Tatras or Bieszczady mountains in Poland's south-east, which could without much of a stretch be joined with a stay in Kraków. Around Zakopane, at the foot of the Tatras, there are a lot of children's story wooden bungalows – stacks on Airbnb – from £15 a night. It's a well known ski resort, yet in the mid year there are 170 miles of checked and evaluated climbing trails that weave through the Tatra national stop's troughs and pinnacles.
